Being a farmhouse from the 19th century, we knew it would take some work. But with work, comes appreciation and we now love our home. There is plenty of work still to be done, but we have plenty of years to do it.

As you can see from the photo, I included the garage with the house since it really is just an extension of the house - no farm work is done in the garage, unless you consider drinking beer to be farm work.

I've wanted a big red barn ever since I decided to live in the country - and I actually got one. And it's in great shape.

The previous owners raised sheep in the front and rabbits in the back addition. There is one horse stall, several pens for medium sized animals, and plenty of room for modifications - as soon as I clean the 8 inches of hard sheep manure from the floor.

I almost converted this into the chicken coop, but decided the placement of the building wasn't ideal. It was further from the house than the current coop and was too close to the other buildings for fencing-in an outdoor pen for the chickens.

The front low room is un-usable as the roof is close to collapsing, but the back room is in fair condition. I walled off the back one-third of the back room to house the new chickens and it is more than enough room for the eight that we currently raise.

The outdoor chicken run is finished. Now if I can just get them over their fear of the outdoors and use the darn thing.
